These two numbers are not equally trustworthy Relayed is measured by us, byte by byte, as we forward each frame — it is what we are billed for, and it is capped. Direct is reported by the browsers after a peer-to-peer transfer finishes: those bytes never touched this machine, so we cannot verify them. They cost us nothing, so nobody has a reason to inflate them, but they are an estimate and we would rather say so.
